You probably won’t forget the card, the flowers, or the chocolates this Valentine’s Day, but don’t let February 14th pass without saying something nice to your Valentine as well.

Expressions of gratitude are meaningful gifts that you can readily—and inexpensively—give to the people you care about on Valentine’s Day and throughout the year. Phrases like: “I’m glad that you’re my wife,” “I appreciate your unfailing good nature,” “You make my life better,” “You’re a great boyfriend,” and “Thanks for being such a good friend” linger and grow after the flowers have wilted and the chocolate is long gone.

The truth is that kind words are what people want on Valentine’s Day. And on every other day of the year. Tell people how much they mean to you and you’ll go home with the perfect relational gift.

By the way, I appreciate you reading my blog.

Happy Valentine’s Day.
